Pulse Economics joins national Advanced Therapies Advisory Group

Pulse Economics is pleased to share that Oona Reardon, Managing Director, has been appointed as a member of the newly established Medicines Australia and AusBiotech Advanced Therapies Advisory Group

The Advisory Group brings together industry, policy and technical expertise to help accelerate Australia’s advanced therapies sector, including cell and gene therapies. It builds on the findings of the Australian Cell and Gene Therapies Innovation Investment Report and is focused on strengthening Australia’s global competitiveness in this rapidly evolving field.

The Group will provide strategic input across policy development, advocacy and industry enablement, with a strong emphasis on translating scientific innovation into patient access and broader economic impact. A key objective is to better align industry and stakeholder perspectives to support sustainable growth of advanced therapies in Australia.

Oona’s appointment reflects Pulse Economics’ deep experience in Australian reimbursement and HTA decision-making, including first-hand evaluation experience across PBAC and MSAC processes. This perspective is particularly relevant for advanced therapies, where evidentiary uncertainty, high upfront costs and evolving policy settings require careful navigation to achieve patient access.

The Advisory Group will be chaired by Simon Cool, CEO of the Solutions for Manufacturing Advanced Regenerative Therapies CRC (SMART CRC), recognising the critical role of manufacturing capability and system readiness in enabling access to advanced therapies.

Pulse Economics looks forward to contributing to this important national initiative and supporting collaborative efforts to ensure Australia is well positioned to deliver innovative advanced therapies to patients, while maintaining robust, transparent and sustainable reimbursement pathways.
